Britney Spears settles lawsuit with photographer

Britney SpearsBritney Spears has settled the lawsuit filed by a paparazzo who claimed she deliberately hurt him while driving, but both parties refused to disclose the term.

Ricardo Mendoza, a photographer who followed the pop singer on Oct. 18, 2007 when the mishap took place, alleged that Spears intentionally ran over his sandaled left foot, in an attempt to "drive, push, ram and/or barrel through a crowd of people" including himself.

He filed the suit against the popular entertainer on May 29. He also charged Spears with assault and battery.

Maldives holds world's first underwater cabinet meeting

Maldivian cabinet on Saturday met at the bottom of the sea, marking the first ever such meeting to be held underwater, which framed an SOS to global leaders to save their atoll nation from being submerged by the rising seas.

The SOS in the shape of a declaration was approved at the 25-minute cabinet meeting presided over by President Mohammad Nasheed.

The declaration will be presented at the Copenhagen meet on climate change in December, with Nasheed saying that Maldives was not the only country facing such a calamity.

Nasheed and his cabinet colleagues scuba-dived to their underwater rendezvous and spent 45 minutes sitting across a number of tables immersed to the bottom of the sea, off the Girifushi island, about 35 nautical miles from capital Male.

The Maldivian ministers went to these extraordinary lengths as a UN panel on climate change had warned that even a rise of sea levels between 18 to 60 cm would submerge the islands by 2100.

Of late, Maldives has been drawing the attention of the world on the need to take steps to halt rising sea levels.

Main Aurr Mrs Khanna Movie Review

Main Aurr Mrs Khanna: Could have been better

Rating: 2 out of 5*

Starring: Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Sohail Khan, Mahek Chahal, Nauheed Cyrusi, Yash Tonk and Bappi Lahiri

Director: Prem Soni

Debutante writer-director Prem Soni must be called truly lucky to get a top line lead pair of Salman – Kareena and a reasonably good budget basing his film completely in Melbourne.

Salman looks smashing and shows he can play a serious romantic role extremely well too. Kareena looks WOW and acts superbly, especially in the emotional scenes. Sohail in what one may call one of his career best roles does complete justice to his character and rises much above his written role. Bappi Lahiri is hilarious as the jewellery shop owner. Deepika Padukone in a special appearance has nothing much to do.

Sajid Wajid’s music is very good and has been well incorporated in the film.

As you come out of the film, you do keep feeling that film could have been much better had the second half been handled well. But overall its not a bad film and you won’t regret your time wasted watching it.

NASA's new experiment in moon to hunt for water

Two US spacecraft bombed the surface of the moon on Friday in a search for hidden ice and scientists were looking for conclusive proof about presence or absence of water.

Just a couple of weeks ago, India's maiden unmanned lunar mission Chandrayaan confirmed the existence of water in the region subsequently confirmed by data from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, the vessel that LCROSS hitched a ride into space alongside.

US space agency NASA's Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite(LCROSS) crashed into the Cabeus crater floor near the moon's south pole at 1130 GMT(1700 IST) around 9,000 km per hour, followed four minutes later by a shepherding spacecraft equipped with cameras to record the impact.

The crash blasted a plume of rock and dust into space as Telescopes on Earth and instruments on the probe itself scoured the huge impact cloud to see if there is any water or ice spraying up. The planned live photos of the crash could not be seen even though NASA said all instruments were in order.

NASA scientists were however cautious over confirming the presence of water on moon.

Force India return empty-handed from Japanese GP

The 14th lap brush with Heikki Kovalainen's McLaren compromised Adrian Sutil's race and the double finish was hardly a solace as Force India completed its Japanese Grand Prix campaign without a single point.

Considering Sutil's familiarity with the layout and its low-to-medium downforce suiting the car, it was a blown opportunity for Sutil who finished 13th, just ahead of teammate Vitantonio Liuzzi, who managed to improve on his unflattering 19th position on the starting grid.

Sebastian Vettel drove a copybook race at Suzuka to win the Japanese Grand Prix and stay afloat in the 2009 championship chase.

Jarno Trulli was second for Toyota, with McLaren's Lewis Hamilton following him at third.

Starting eight on the grid after copping a five-place penalty for Saturday's chaotic qualifying, Sutil took on a speeding Kovalainen coming into the chicane on lap 14.

Team chairman Vijay Mallya did not hide his disappointment at missing points.
